Conference 2.0: Fr. Joseph Huneycutt’s Speech

Dated: July 2, 2025 admin

Fr. Joseph Huneycutt — Vice-Chairman of the Department of Missions and Evangelism for the Antiochian Archdiocese of North America, Dean of the East Texas Deanery of the Diocese of Wichita and Mid-America, and the Pastor of St. Joseph Orthodox Church in Houston, Texas — gave one heckuva speech at our Conference 2.0 held last year in Lockhart, Texas. Just like his old OrthoDixie podcast and blog by the same name, Fr. Joseph delivers a truly impactful presentation with his unique blend of wit and wisdom.

The two-day Texas conference largely focused on the rich heritage of Southern and Orthodox art and music, and the continuity between the two traditions. The conversations surrounded Southern and Orthodox culture, worldview, and values, and the interplay between them; the importance of service in Southern parishes and missions; and the struggles of evangelism and how to navigate these obstacles as they arise both in our parishes, in Dixie’s Land, and in society as whole.
