Fr. Alistair Anderson
April 22, 2018
The son of an admiral and graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Fr. Alistair served as a military chaplain for more than 21 years. An eyewitness of the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay and of the TET Offensive in Vietnam, Fr. Alistair received two Bronze Stars and the Legion of Merit for “meritorious service in the performance of outstanding duty in positions of great responsibility.” Fr. Alistair converted to Holy Orthodoxy from the Episcopal organization and was ordained a priest in 1990. A proud Southerner, he served as Chaplain-in-Chief of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and was especially concerned to preserve the memory of Southern POWs who died at Point Lookout, MD. Fr. Alistair reposed in the Lord on April 22, 2018, and rests in St. John’s Cemetery in Frederick, Maryland.
