Katherine (“Sissy”) Yerger
October 7, 2015

Matushka Katherine (“Sissy”) Yerger was born in Houston, Texas, in 1942 and grew up in Arkansas and Richmond, Virginia. She converted to Holy Orthodoxy along with her husband, Paul – an Episcopal clergyman at the time – in 1977. Upon Fr. Paul’s ordination to the holy priesthood, he was made rector of Holy Resurrection parish. “Matushka Sissy served as the parish’s first choir director, bookstore manager, janitor, and everything in between. For many years she invited every visitor and single person at Saturday evening Vespers to her home for dinner, which contributed greatly to the growth of the community.” She is buried in Clinton Cemetery, which is adjacent to Holy Resurrection Church in Clinton, Mississippi.
