What: Appalachian Ski Mountain Homeschool Days
Where: 940 Ski Mountain Road, Blowing Rock, NC 28605
When: Wednesday, February 23, 2022
If you’re an Orthodox or Orthodox-inquiring homeschooling family and you live within the geographical parameters of the field trip program (see flyer details above), please join us for skiing and fellowship in the High Country. We are planning on arriving for check-in at 10 a.m. and attending the “beginners” group lesson at 11:15 a.m.
If you and yours aren’t beginners, simply try to arrive within that 10:00-11:15 time frame, and then come over and introduce your family to us newbies (we’ll be the ones looking like deer in the headlights). That way, we can be sure to make connections and recognize one another during ski time, lunch, hot fire and hot chocolate breaks, or whatever other joyful occasions may arise while there!
Don’t let the “homeschool authorization letter” mentioned in the reservation rules scare you non-North Carolinians away. That’s a regulation in the Tarheel State, whereas it might not be one in your home state. Not to worry. The good folks at Appalachian Ski Mountain say, “Just bring a report card, curriculum, etc. We’ll really take any sort of proof that the kids are homeschooled.”
Make sure to read all the flyer details carefully and to register by the deadline (midnight on Tuesday, February 22) using the proper promo code. Also, if you think your homeschool brood will be joining us for fellowship in the beautiful Carolina High Country, please email ilia@southernorthodox.org so that we’ll know to keep an eye out for you.
Note: This is not an “official” fellowship event (as in one organized and facilitated by the Ludwell Orthodox Fellowship). It’s merely a good meetup opportunity for people interested in the fellowship who also happen to homeschool. Hope to see y’all there!
